Tourcoing:
Line 2 of the metro will begin service on 18th August 1999.
Mons:
the Mons Urban Community, in Belgium, was born on 20th May 1999.
It
is presided by Maurice Lafosse, the Burgomester of Mons, and unites
13 communes, i.e. 200,000 inhabitants.
Roubaix:
The Roubaix Museum of Arts and Industry will close on 11th July
1999 at 18.00 hrs. in order to move into larger premises at the
former Roubaix pool from the 1930s. Its new address will be on
the Rue de l'Espérance.
The
re-opening is planned for the autumn of 2000.
Roubaix:
Inauguration of the Mac Arthur Glen Commercial Centre on 19th
August 1999.
Liévin:
"Les salles de mémoire" (The halls of memory).
The Municipal Department of Local History, an association under
the law of 1901, will present impressions of Liévin from
the Neolithic period to our day.
Opening: during 2000.
